Accounting services for small businesses and trades

I handle every one of these myself. Pick what you need now and add more as the business grows.

Bookkeeping & Accounting

Your books done properly every month. Reconciled, categorized and ready before CRA ever asks for anything.

Bookkeeping on its own starts around $400 a month for a small operation and goes up with the number of transactions and accounts.

Corporate Tax Returns (T2)

T2 returns for incorporated small businesses, built on books that actually reconcile.

Most T2 returns start around $700: I check the numbers, make any adjustments and calculate CCA before I file. A nil return, or a very simple one where you give me finished numbers, starts around $400. If the corporate setup is more involved, I'll quote it after I've seen the books.

Payroll

Simple payroll for a small crew, set up properly and run on schedule.

An add-on to your monthly plan, about $15 a month per employee. I keep this to simple payroll on purpose.

Business Advisory

Help with the money decisions most owners don't have anyone to ask about, like incorporating, salary or dividends, hiring, equipment and budgeting.

Included in the Growth Finance and Strategic Insights monthly plans (from $750 and $1,050 a month). If you only need help with one decision, I can do it as a one-time job and quote it after our first call.

Trades & Subcontractors

The trades-specific stuff a general accountant can miss: subcontractor tracking, T5018s, WSIB and HST on construction work.

This is part of your bookkeeping or advisory plan, not an extra charge. Tracking subs and WSIB is a normal part of a trades business's books.

Personal Tax Returns (T1)

T1 returns for individuals and owner-operators. I file it and explain it in plain English.

A basic return, mostly employment income and common deductions, is $80 to $120, including help with your CRA My Account and a basic T777. Rental properties, self-employment income and back years cost more.
